We've lost many already so don't miss the opportunity to connect with other Blue Devils. This is the beginning of our Third Act!

THE BACK STORY

Many people asked for a reunion the past few years but with COVID, it's been difficult. Since we are in the middle of our 45th - 50th reunioun years, let's look at this one as a celebration of turning 65, since most of the class of 76 are celebrating this milestone in 2023.

The planning for this reunion began in 2022 but time quickly passed and here we are making it happen in 2023.

We were looking for something that was outdoors and accessable. Since so many people vacation to OC or have family members here, having a reunion at the beach became the option. As we talked to more and more people about the idea, there were enough that said yes, so we moved forward

THE DETAILS

This is a very casual reunion. There's no cost to attend but read the details below for how you can contribute if you want. 

Adult family members are invited. If you have siblings that graduated in the 70's please invite them.

Since most people will be traveling to the beach, we are setting up a few events, all optional and no cost. We are trying to be mindful that your expense will be your accomodations!

THE MAIN EVENT

Saturday September 30th, 2023

Beach Bonfire 120th Street, Ocean City 7:00 - 11:00

BACK UP PLAN IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER - WE'LL MOVE TO BOURBON STREET LOCATED AT 12601 COASTAL HIGHWAY NEXT TO HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS

There's a great band, no cover and we'll have an unofficial area in the back so you can still talk and move to the front if you want to dance!

For the bonfire: Bring your own chairs, food (a little to share) and beverages.

If you are musically inclined, bring your instruments. Just remember, it's sand, so bring them at your own risk! 

Note, the signs at 120th street say handicapped accessable. It's a wider entrance with packed sand. There is no special ramp for accessing the beach.

Ample parking is available across Coastal Highway.

Keep in mind it is a public beach, and while we have a permit for the bonfire, we still have to be 'legal'. 

If it rains, the current back up plan is to meet at Bourbon Street.

FOR THE EARLY BIRDS

Friday September 29th, 2023

Ocean Pines Yacht Club 11 Mumford Landing Road, Ocean Pines MD

For those of you arriving on Friday, let's meet at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. It's before you get to Ocean City. They have outdoor music from 6 - 10 PM but feel free to arrive earlier!

If it is raining, they still try to keep the music going but there are two bars inside and a place for dinner so we can meet and mingle there.

BACK UP PLAN IF RAIN 

Steve Frene is a Springbrook Alumni and will be playing at  Lighthouse Sound which is about 15 minutes from The Yacht Club. It's a beautiful setting, so it might be worth the trip.

Steve is playing from 6:00 - 9:00

I'll be at the Yacht Club starting at 5:00 for anyone that wants to join me. If the music is cancelled at the Yacht Club due to the rain, I'll probably leave by 7:00. 

It's on the water with a beautiful view of Ocean City across the bay.

You can eat, just watch the view or enjoy the music. It's open all day. 

At this point, we don't have a special area blocked off or reserved for our reunion. We'll use the outdoor bar area as the meeting point (bottom right corner in picture), weather permitting. In the event of incliment weather, look for us in the back bar.

Harpoon Hanna's  39064 Harpoon Road, Fenwick Island, DE

End the weekend with bruch at Harpoon Hanna's.

We've selected this location because it is on the water and has plenty of seating. Brunch starts at 10:00. Outdoor seating is first come first serve!

There is nothing formal here, but a place where we can meet and relax before the weekend ends

ACCOMMODATIONS  

There is not one specific hotel designed for the event.

The Carousel is the closest to the bonfire site. The Fenwick Inn is close to Harpoon Hannas. Check Airbnb, VRBO and local rental organizations. Don't forget to check with friends and family too!

There is another event in Ocean City that weekend, so hotel prices might be higher than usual. Consider staying in Fenwick, Bethany or Selbyville as options.

If you plan to drink, take an uber or lyft to and from the events.

DRESS:

Because this is a casual / informal event, don't expect name tags. To identify yourself as an alumni, please wear a light blue or dark blue top! 

HOW YOU CAN HELP

While there is no charge, we do need firewood for the bonfire. If we get enough people to contribute, we can pay someone to deliver the firewood (that would be ideal). If we don't have enough contributions, we'll ask for everyone to bring a few logs. They can be purchased from the local convience stores along Coastal Highway or you can bring a few logs from home if you have them!

A bonfire needs firewood!

If we get more contributions than firewood, we'll apply the money towards food and beverages.

If you are planning to attend, please register. We need to keep track of approximately how many people will attend. It's also how you will get the updates for any changes.
